The Board is pleased to announce that members who are “cleared” to do so, may operate the CMR-owned Ford tractor or GMC flatbed Truck. (This does not apply to other CMR heavy equipment, i.e., the loader and road grader.)
For a member to be cleared, he or she must demonstrate proficiency in the normal operation of the tractor – forward and reverse movement, bucket operation, etc. They must also understand the limits of said use, i.e.
- load limits
- operating on or near grades
- caution regarding overhead or underground power and telephone lines
- rules regarding members’ lots, common property and alterations thereof
- minimizing damage to grass and natural ground cover in open areas
Similarly, the member must demonstrate proficiency in the normal operation of the truck and its flatbed, including understanding load limits and the limitations of 2-wheel drive.
The member will reimburse the association for renting the tractor and truck in accordance with the established fee schedule as published on the CMR website.
Members operate the tractor or truck at their own risk and take on all liabilities associated with its use, including the risk of injury to themselves or others, property damage to the tractor or others’ property, etc. The flatbed truck is licensed for use off of the ranch. If the truck is to be taken off of the ranch the member will affirm he or she has vehicle liability coverage for owned personal vehicles in effect and will produce proof thereof if so requested.
On behalf of the Board, the Caretaker will “clear” a member for use by reviewing their operation of the tractor and truck, their operating limits and guidelines and making sure the member understands his/her liability and responsibilities.
The caretaker must be notified prior to the use of the flatbed truck or Ford tractor and the approximate amount of time the equipment will be in use. The caretaker must be notified when the equipment has been returned to the storage area and the number of hours the equipment was in use. The CMR accountant will bill the member for the appropriate charges.
